Aventix Design was formed at the end of 2002 to take advantage of a niche market within the roofing industry. Many roofing system manufacturers have in-depth knowledge of their own narrow sector, but there are few companies that have a broad view of the industry as a whole.
Aventix was created to step into this role, able to bring a mix of trades and experience to design and technical issues, many of which have arisen recently in response to changes in the building regulations.
Design
The company’s first efforts were directed toward roofing system companies looking to improve existing products, or revise/update their portfolios.
Extensive knowledge of the industry coupled with commercial awareness and production know-how enable Aventix to devise practical solutions that are cost effective and user friendly; key attributes in a sector not known for high levels of workforce skills.
Product realisation
A key factor in the design of a product is ease of manufacture; by making prototypes ourselves we can overcome cost and practicality issues on the shop floor prior to release of the design to the client. Stepping up to full scale production is the next obvious step.
A good example of this process is ‘bigfoot’ – a special application product for aluminium halters as used in roofing systems. Our initial design solution highlighted difficulties with main component supplies to the client. This in turn prompted us to offer to produce the component ourselves; we sourced materials, tooling, and other equipment, installed our plant, hired and trained a labour force and quickly moved to production.
From those modest beginnings we now have the capacity to supply a substantial portion of the UK market sector.
Other areas of activity opened as a result of that first success. We have extended our reach into specialist fabrications and metalworking; in aluminium, steel and stainless steel. We have facilities for inset nylon moulding, polyester powder coating, laser cutting, punching, pressing and plating.
